Best Accounting Software in the UAE (2026): 7 Compared

Best accounting software in the UAE for 2026: Zoho Books, TallyPrime, Xero, QuickBooks, Wafeq, Odoo and Octate compared on VAT, e-invoicing and price.

Facts last verified: 3 November 2026.

For a small business that wants cloud accounting with UAE VAT and e-invoicing in the same app, look at Zoho Books, Xero and Wafeq, which all offer UAE e-invoicing on their cloud plans. Zoho Books also has a free plan for very small businesses. TallyPrime fits teams whose accountant already works in Tally on office PCs, and QuickBooks Online suits bookkeeping and VAT with e-invoicing handled separately. Odoo and Octate fit businesses that want accounting together with inventory and orders in one system.

How we compared them. Octate publishes this guide and is one of the seven, so it comes last and the list isn't a ranking. Every competitor fact comes from the vendor's own UAE website or documentation, or from the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and Federal Tax Authority (FTA), and every source is listed at the end. Prices and registers change, so check them before you buy.

The 7 Options at a Glance

  • Zoho Books. Best fit: small businesses that want cloud accounting with VAT filing and e-invoicing. Pricing: published in AED per organisation, with a free plan. On the MoF ASP register: yes.
  • TallyPrime. Best fit: small teams whose accountant works in Tally on office PCs. Pricing: published one-time licence in AED. On the MoF ASP register: yes.
  • Xero. Best fit: small businesses that want cloud accounting with bank feeds and UAE e-invoicing included in the plan. Pricing: published in USD per month. On the MoF ASP register: no (it names a partner ASP, Casim).
  • QuickBooks Online. Best fit: small businesses that want cloud bookkeeping and VAT returns, and don't need e-invoicing from the same vendor. Pricing: on the UAE site, with a 30-day trial. On the MoF ASP register: no.
  • Wafeq. Best fit: UAE and Saudi businesses that want regional cloud accounting with e-invoicing in the plan. Pricing: published in AED. On the MoF ASP register: yes.
  • Odoo. Best fit: businesses that want accounting inside a broad, configurable suite and have a partner to set it up. Pricing: published per user. On the MoF ASP register: no.
  • Octate. Best fit: SMEs that want accounting, inventory and orders on one ledger, with several branches or warehouses. Pricing: published per seat in USD. On the MoF ASP register: no.

What to Check in UAE Accounting Software

  • VAT: tax invoices with your TRN, VAT on every line, reverse charge, and a VAT return report you can file from.
  • E-invoicing: e-invoicing becomes mandatory from 1 July 2027 for businesses under AED 50 million. Check whether the software creates PINT AE e-invoices and who will be your Accredited Service Provider (ASP): the vendor itself, a partner it names, or one you choose.
  • Users and limits: many plans cap users, invoices or bills. Count what you need in a year, not today.
  • Growth path: if you hold stock or run several companies, check whether inventory, multi-company and consolidation are in the same system or separate apps.
  • Price over three years: add subscriptions, extra users, e-invoicing transaction packs and implementation.

"FTA Approved Accounting Software": What It Means

Vendors often describe their software as "FTA approved" or "FTA accredited". What this usually refers to is the FTA's Tax Accounting Software Register (TASR). Software vendors that give the FTA a written declaration about their software may be listed on it, with a software version and a validity date for each entry. It's a different list from the MoF register of e-invoicing ASPs, and being on one doesn't put a vendor on the other.

On 3 November 2026 the TASR showed current entries for Xero (valid until March 2027) and for TallyPrime and Zoho Books (both valid until November 2026). Wafeq's entry was valid until August 2026, and older entries for Odoo, Focus and Sage had expired. QuickBooks and Octate weren't listed. If a vendor says its software is FTA approved, check the entry's software version and validity date on the FTA's page.

Zoho Books

Zoho Books is Zoho's cloud accounting app, with a UAE edition in English and Arabic.

  • Who it fits: small businesses that want cloud accounting with VAT filing and e-invoicing, and are comfortable adding other Zoho apps as they grow.
  • Deployment: cloud, in the browser, with mobile and desktop apps.
  • Pricing: published per organisation in AED, excluding local taxes. Billed annually, Standard is AED 60, Professional AED 90, Premium AED 120, Elite AED 280 and Ultimate AED 660 per organisation per month (AED 69, 129, 159, 349 and 799 billed monthly), with 3, 5, 10, 10 and 15 users. Extra users cost AED 8 per user per month billed annually, or AED 10 monthly. A free plan covers one user plus an accountant, for businesses with revenue up to AED 200,000 a year, and paid plans have a 14-day trial.
  • UAE VAT: Zoho says you can file your VAT 201 return to the EmaraTax portal from Zoho Books, and that Zoho Books is recognised by the FTA as a Digital Tax Integrator.
  • UAE e-invoicing: Zoho Software Trading LLC is on the MoF ASP register. Zoho Books sends and receives PINT AE e-invoices over Peppol. The first 100 e-invoicing transactions are free on Professional and higher plans, then packs start at AED 41 per 100.
  • Limits: plans cap invoices per year as well as users, e-invoicing beyond the first 100 transactions is paid in packs, and stock, CRM and the books together mean licensing several Zoho apps.

TallyPrime

TallyPrime is Tally's business management software for accounting, inventory, statutory compliance, banking and payroll.

  • Who it fits: smaller teams whose accountant works in Tally on a few office PCs and who mainly need accounting, VAT and stock.
  • Deployment: desktop software installed on each PC. Browser access comes through TallyPrime cloud access, from AED 63 per user per month, with the licence bought separately.
  • Pricing: published. A one-time licence costs AED 2,340 for a single user (Silver) or AED 7,020 for multiple users on the same network (Gold), with an annual renewal from the second year. Subscriptions start at AED 78 a month for a single user.
  • UAE VAT: Tally says TallyPrime prepares the VAT 201 form, connects with the EmaraTax portal and prints bilingual Arabic and English invoices.
  • UAE e-invoicing: Tally Software Solutions FZCO is on the MoF ASP register. TallyPrime Release 7.1 added e-invoicing setup, and Release 7.2 added exchanging e-invoices with the e-Invoice System, one at a time or in bulk.
  • Limits: staff outside the office need the paid cloud add-on or a remote-access setup.

Xero

Xero is cloud accounting software with a UAE site.

  • Who it fits: small businesses that want cloud accounting with bank feeds, VAT returns and e-invoicing included in the plan.
  • Deployment: cloud.
  • Pricing: published in USD per month for the UAE: Lite $7, Starter $32, Standard $54 and Premium $82, with a 30-day free trial and no free plan. Starter is limited to 20 invoices and 5 bills, and multi-currency is on Premium only.
  • UAE VAT: Xero says it fills in the fields of the VAT 201 return, produces FTA Audit Files and can generate VAT reports in Arabic. Its software is in English.
  • UAE e-invoicing: Xero says UAE e-invoicing is available at no extra cost on Starter, Standard and Premium, not Lite. Customers register with Casim, a UAE ASP, in EmaraTax. Xero itself isn't on the MoF ASP register.
  • Limits: prices are in USD, the cheaper plans cap invoices and bills, and the software interface is English only.

QuickBooks Online

QuickBooks Online is Intuit's cloud accounting software, with a UAE site.

  • Who it fits: small businesses that want cloud bookkeeping and VAT tracking, and will handle e-invoicing another way.
  • Deployment: cloud.
  • Pricing: four plans on the UAE site: Simple Start (1 user), Essentials (3 users), Plus (5 users) and Advanced (25 users), each with access for your accountant, billed monthly with a 30-day free trial. Prices load on the page, so check them there.
  • UAE VAT: QuickBooks says it tracks VAT on income and expenses and keeps you ready to file VAT returns.
  • UAE e-invoicing: QuickBooks' UAE pages don't describe UAE e-invoicing. In April 2026, a QuickBooks team reply on its support forum said e-invoicing in QuickBooks Online wasn't available in the asker's region and suggested a third-party app. Intuit isn't on the MoF ASP register.
  • Limits: no e-invoicing from QuickBooks itself at the time of that reply, so plan for a separate ASP and connection.

Wafeq

Wafeq is a cloud accounting platform focused on the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

  • Who it fits: UAE and Saudi businesses that want regional cloud accounting with VAT, corporate tax reports and e-invoicing in the plan.
  • Deployment: cloud.
  • Pricing: published in AED. Billed annually, Starter is AED 57, Plus AED 80 and Premium AED 200 per month (AED 69, 99 and 249 billed monthly), with Enterprise on request. Extra branches and some modules are paid add-ons, and there's a 14-day free trial.
  • UAE VAT: Wafeq says its VAT return and corporate tax reports come from the same data, and that invoices can be produced in Arabic and English.
  • UAE e-invoicing: Wafeq says e-invoicing is included in its plans and that it sends PINT AE invoices over Peppol. Wafeq FZ-LLC is on the MoF ASP register.
  • Limits: user limits on the lower plans aren't stated on its pricing page, so ask before you buy.

Odoo

Odoo is a modular suite of business apps, including accounting, sold as one platform.

  • Who it fits: businesses that want accounting inside a broad, configurable suite with CRM, inventory and POS, and have a partner or in-house team to set it up.
  • Deployment: Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or on-premise. Odoo.sh and on-premise are only available on the Custom plan.
  • Pricing: published per user per month, with prices that vary by country. A One App Free plan gives one app free for unlimited users on Odoo Online.
  • UAE VAT: Odoo's UAE localisation (version 19.0) adds VAT and corporate tax reports. The VAT 201 report exports to Excel or PDF for you to submit.
  • UAE e-invoicing: Odoo isn't on the MoF ASP register, and its version 19.0 documentation doesn't list the UAE among its e-invoicing integrations, so ask your Odoo partner how UAE e-invoicing would work.
  • Limits: implementation isn't included, and Odoo directs companies with more than 50 employees to a local partner.

Octate

Octate is cloud ERP that puts accounting, inventory, purchasing and sales orders on one ledger, hosted on AWS.

  • Who it fits: SMEs that have outgrown basic accounting because they hold stock, run several branches or warehouses, or own more than one company.
  • Deployment: cloud only.
  • Pricing: published in USD per seat per month: Professional $49.99 and Business+ $79.99, with Enterprise priced to your needs. Every plan starts with a free 30-day trial with no credit card. Business+ covers up to 5 companies under one login, with separate or consolidated reports.
  • UAE VAT: Octate applies VAT to every sale, purchase and expense, keeps a full audit trail and gives you the figures for your VAT return.
  • UAE e-invoicing: Octate creates PINT AE e-invoices from the same ledger as your sales and VAT. It isn't on the MoF ASP register as of 3 November 2026.
  • Limits: priced per seat, so a one-person business pays more than on a free or single-organisation plan, and billing is in USD.

Is There Free Accounting Software in the UAE?

Yes, with limits. Zoho Books has a free plan for one user plus an accountant, for businesses with revenue up to AED 200,000 a year, and its e-invoicing starts on the paid Professional plan. Odoo's One App Free plan gives one app, such as Invoicing, free for unlimited users. Most other options offer a free trial instead: 14 days for Wafeq and Zoho's paid plans, and 30 days for Xero, QuickBooks and Octate. Before relying on a free plan, check how you'll handle e-invoicing when it applies to you.

Accounting Software or ERP?

Accounting software is enough when your work is mainly invoicing, expenses, bank reconciliation and VAT. Consider ERP when you hold stock in several places, run more than one company, or re-key orders between systems at month-end. Our roundup of the best ERP software in Dubai and the UAE compares the larger systems, and our month-end close checklist shows where disconnected tools cost time.

How to Choose

  1. List what you do every month: invoices, bills, payroll, stock movements, branches and companies.
  2. Decide who your ASP will be before the deadline that applies to you. Check every vendor's claim against the MoF register.
  3. Shortlist two or three tools and run a real month in each trial: invoice, record a bill with VAT, reconcile the bank and run the VAT report.
  4. Check the limits on users, invoices and bills against a full year of activity.
  5. Price it over three years, including extra users, e-invoicing packs and implementation.
  6. Plan the move: opening balances, customers, suppliers and items. See our guide to moving from Tally to cloud ERP in the UAE.

Quick Answers

What is the best accounting software in the UAE? It depends on your business. Zoho Books and Xero suit small businesses that want cloud accounting with e-invoicing in the plan, TallyPrime suits desktop users, and ERP such as Odoo or Octate suits businesses that also manage stock and several companies.

Is there free accounting software in the UAE? Zoho Books has a free plan for one user plus an accountant, for revenue up to AED 200,000 a year. Most others offer free trials.

What is "FTA approved" accounting software? Usually, software listed on the FTA's Tax Accounting Software Register (TASR), which vendors can join after giving the FTA a written declaration about their software. It's a different list from the MoF register of e-invoicing ASPs, and entries have validity dates, so check them.

Which accounting software can handle UAE e-invoicing? Check the MoF register of ASPs and each vendor's own e-invoicing page. Among these seven, Zoho, Tally and Wafeq are on the MoF register, Xero offers e-invoicing with a partner ASP, and Octate creates PINT AE e-invoices but isn't on the register.
